Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev secured his initial trophy for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a former world number one, has endured a difficult season, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in especial - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought three-set victory over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's first trophy following the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt after that period of that year.

Success also signifies he has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the first title I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and regular outbursts on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his skill to play at the highest level was over.

But the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play positively, supported by an enhanced service.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his first tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

The opponent saved four early-game break points in a close third set before the champion broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he earned the title with a rally at the net area, with Moutet incapable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
